Dentistry, many have stated, is considered to be both an art and a science. For Verardi Dental to be aesthetically pleasing to both patients and staff was a desire of mine from the initial conception of the office design. All interior design decisions were conceived and brought to reality by me and my husband.
Upon entering the reception/front lobby area, patients are immersed in an atmosphere of warmth and serenity. The selection of rich paint colors combined with faux finishes on the architectural elements of the tray ceiling and rounded columns evoke a feeling of calmness from our patients. Well-placed recessed lighting with dimming capability complements the natural beauty of the marble floors and granite countertops. Local artists were commissioned to create original oil paintings and floral design to complement color, texture and furniture selection. A wall-mounted plasma television allows patients to “catch-up” on news and events prior to their dental visit.
Throughout the office, rounded corners, distinctive dry-wall texture, and natural fiber woven blinds add to the ambiance. In the consultation room, a window of rain textured glass creates a sense of relaxation while eliminating the need to darken the room for privacy.
The same criteria that I utilize in the selection of my dental materials, strength, durability and timelessness, are evident in the marble, granite and paint color choices in the office.
Daily we receive compliments on the beauty and cleanliness of our office from patients, visitors and delivery personnel. My staff is excited to come to work each day, proud of their surroundings and happy to refer patients here for treatment.

Prior to opening Verardi Dental, I worked in a large group practice that had been through several construction additions with little attention given to patient and staff flow. The corridors were narrow and very frequently, collisions occurred while rounding corners. The dental operatories were partitioned only with cabinetry thereby inhibiting thoroughly private conversations with patients. In addition, the operatories had only one opening through which the doctor, patient and assistant must pass. With the patient fully reclined in the chair, it was very difficult for the assistant to leave the room. The reception desk was small and housed only two windows that permitted patients to “check-in” and “check-out” which often led to congestion during busy hours.
Verardi Dental is fully handicapped accessible with wide hallways. Rounded corners eliminate potential staff collisions and soften the overall atmosphere of the practice. Patients are escorted from our reception area through one doorway which leads to the seven dental operatories. All operatories are individual treatment rooms with dual entry access to both the assistant and doctor positions. Having complete wall separation and a dual entry point eliminates both patient privacy issues and forgotten item retrieval during a procedure. Once dental treatment is complete, the patients are escorted to the “check-out” side of the front reception desk, thus never re-entering the front lobby. A hallway allows patients to exit directly into the corridor after privately discussing appointments and financial issues upon completion of their dental visit. This specific flow pattern eliminates congestion at the front desk as incoming and outgoing patients never intermingle.
Overall, the specific office design of Verardi Dental is both efficient and functional with respect to both patient and staff flow.
